Boardman and Gibson form Company

2/10/2015

Clay Boardman and John Gibson announced today that they have formed The Vireo Group to provide commercial retail leasing, management and development services. Prior to forming the Vireo Group with Clay Boardman, Gibson was a managing partner of Hull Storey Gibson Companies for 15 years where he was responsible for the acquisition, financing, development, construction, redevelopment, leasing and management of retail properties and contributed to the growth of the portfolio to 13 million square feet in eight states. Gibson said, “We have assembled a professional team that has worked in these markets and with leading national retailers over the last 30 years.”

Prior to this most recent venture, Boardman was a Principal and Senior Vice President of Development for Hull Storey Gibson Companies. Before joining Hull Storey Gibson, Boardman served more than 30 years as the CEO of Boardman Petroleum and Charter-Triad Terminals. At Boardman Petroleum, Boardman identified sites, negotiated their acquisition, then developed, owned and operated more than 75 convenience stores, travel centers and quick service food locations throughout the Southeast. Charter-Triad owned and operated nine large petroleum storage facilities in the Southeast handling gasoline, diesel, butane and jet fuels. Boardman emphasized, “We are looking forward to meeting with institutional shopping center owners and national retailers seeking an experienced partner in the Southeast. For many years we have personally owned and operated retail stores and shopping centers, and so we bring a unique perspective and dedication to this business.”

The Vireo Group’s efforts will be led by Julie Teague, who previously served as a Vice President of Development at Hull Storey Gibson and as a Director of Operations at EDENS, a private shopping center REIT, where she was responsible for the leasing and management of a 10 million square foot retail portfolio. Teague also has more than ten years of public company experience in acquisitions and property management and holds CPM, CCIM and LEED designations.

Joining Teague on the leasing team will be Ralph Kitchens. Kitchens brings more than 30 years of experience in the commercial brokerage and management business. Ralph received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia and holds the CCIM designation.
